As parents one of the greatest privileges we have is to introduce our children to our Christian faith. But how can we do this most effectively? ‘Raising Disciples’ is a morning to equip parents for the task of growing their children’s Christian faith! We’ll be sharing practical and helpful wisdom and resources for your family, and highlighting the important partnership between the church’s childrens/youth ministries and the home.

It’s running at The River on Saturday 18 March 9am-1pm and the registration price covers lunch and childcare for the morning. Head to tinyurl.com/RaisingDisciples to register!

Saturday 18th March 2023
9am – 1pm (includes lunch and childcare)
Topics Covered:
  • Ps Peter & Annika Morton sharing their own journey of discipling their children – what worked (and what didn’t!)
  • Dispelling myths on what family discipleship is supposed to look like and sharing vision for what it could be!
  • Age-appropriate ideas for helping grow your kids in their faith
  • Keys for bringing regular discipleship into the rhythms and routines that are already happening in your week
  • Specific input from The River’s Children’s Pastor Elise Teves and Youth Pastor Claire McLean on the key role that River Kids and River Youth have alongside what’s happening in the home
Break-out Streams:
We will breaking out into two age-specific streams later in the morning (preschool/primary and intermediate/high school) for further input, resources and discussion for parents.
Childcare Provided:
To make it easier for families to come, we’re providing extremely affordable childcare (for children 13 and under) for the morning. Please note that this service is intended for children of parents who are attending the event. Morning tea and lunch is also included.
Lunch Provided:
One of the aims for the event is to build connections between parents with kids of similar ages so that they can support and encourage one another in the process of developing their children’s faith. There will be a chance to do this, during the morning tea break. We will also be providing lunch, which families will eat together.
All Parents Welcome:
While this event is designed for parents at The River, parents from other churches who are interested in attending, are most welcome to.
Pricing Options:
While we need to cover some basic costs, we don’t want cost to be a barrier for any parent to be able to attend. Please email us on info@theriver.org.nz for more information.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Peter & Annika Morton
